How it works
“Bridging Communication Gaps” Student Award – 2024 In honour of the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada’s (CDAAC) 10-year anniversary, an award was introduced to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of communication disorders from students and full members of CDAAC. The student award is continuing in spring of 2024. There will be one Student Award given for each of the current CDA programs at Georgian, Durham, St. Lawrence, and Lambton Colleges.
Any student currently enrolled in a CDAAC-recognized program is eligible to receive this award. A student is not required to be a CDAAC Student Affiliate to be nominated.
CDAAC is looking for someone with above-average standing in all CDA classes, who have gone above and beyond their studies. The recipient will have demonstrated initiative and innovation in the classroom, on field placement, and/or elsewhere to advance the CDA profession. The recipient will have made a unique contribution to their program.
A committee of CDAAC members will review each nomination and vote for the nominee they feel has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the field. The committee will notify the recipient in September and their name will be announced in CDAAC’s fall newsletter accompanied by a brief biography and photo. The award, a $200 honorarium and complimentary membership for 2025 will be awarded to the recipient and shared on our social media platforms as well as our annual spring conference in 2025.
CDAAC will accept nominations for the “Bridging Communication Gaps” Student Award from fellow classmates, program coordinators, program instructors and field placement supervisors. Membership with CDAAC is not required to nominate a student. The nomination package should include:
