About playTOK: playTOK Inc. is a private practice company serving Markham, Ontario. We provide assessment and therapy to children with speech (e.g., articulation, oral motor), language, early communication (e.g., preschool interaction and play), emergent literacy, and orofacial myofunctional disorders.

About the team: We are a friendly and supportive team of SLP, CDA and OT professionals working together at our Markham clinic. We support every member of the team to build their skills and caseload. We value your experience and questions in the development of your caseload.

We are looking to hire CDAs (Communication disorders assistants) or SLPAs (Speech Language Pathology Assistants) for a summer full-time basis or contract positions.


The Communicative Disorders Assistant / Speech Language Pathology Assistant is a full-time contract position (July and Aug 2024) that provides a private pediatric speech and language intervention services. The CDA provides group therapy as well as 1:1 therapy with parent coaching.


  • Under the clinical supervision of a speech-language pathologist, provide clinic based services for speech, language, early communication to children and their families
  • Direct intervention in a group basis with parent report and discussion
  • Direct intervention in a 1:1 basis with parents present for parent coaching
  • Develop speech and language therapy materials
  • Support playTOK therapy material production
  • Apply knowledge of evidence based practices
  • Monitor clients’ progress and document performance in progress notes or treatment summaries
  • Builds rapport with children and their families, while providing ongoing feedback, education and home practice activities
  • Maintains complete records
  • Provides administrative or front desk support as required
  • Work together other playTOK staff to develop initiatives

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Communicative Disorders Assistant certification or Speech Language Pathology Assistant experience
  • Professional Liability insurance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience conducting both in-person and virtual therapy
    Fluency in another language(s)

Pay: Pay will be dependent on experience. Salaried versus contract pay are different.

Job Types: There are two position types

  • July/Aug full-time
  • Part-time Year Round


  • Summer schedule will be salaried (e.g., 30 hours per week). Hours and weeks are up to discussion, but will be full-time paid
  • Year round contract will vary but may consist of 1 consistent weekday afternoon, occasional Saturdays,e tc.

Work Location: We are located in a busy condo/mall in Markham, ON with other professional offices. Nearby, there is access to grocery and food. Underground parking is available. If interested, staff may request community or virtual opportunities.


Successful candidates must complete or obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check before commencement of their employment.
